Non-point
sources...

..are the primary source of pollutants in most of our nation's contaminated
waterways. These non-point sources become a problem when storm water
flows over roadways, golf courses, farm land, residential lawns,
parking lots, industrial sites, etc. and into streams, rivers and
lakes.
MEI
has helped municipal and industrial clients address these challenges
by eliminating sources of stormwater contamination as well as collecting
and treating stormwater before discharging. A few of these projects
include...
- A system
to remove oil, grease, solids, and site litter from the stormwater
at a poultry processing plant. Clean stormwater is discharged
from this automated system into the existing municipal stormwater
ditches.
- A process
to clean oil, grease, solids, and petroleum residue from ship
bilges and stormwater at an industrial ship port. This system
treats the bilge water and storm water before discharging treated
water back into the navigable channel.
- Sedimentation
ponds and discharge systems to collect, treat, and discharge storm
water at a coastal ship terminal facility.
- Stormwater
Pollution Prevention Plans and Best Management Practices documents
for environmental compliance and planning.
